Help recognize the best in health law. AHLA's Awards Program honors individuals and organizations for outstanding achievement, service to the health law community, and commitment to our shared mission — and we need member volunteers to help make those selections.
As a panelist, you'll review and score nominations, participate in a virtual discussion with fellow panel members when needed, and recommend a recipient for final approval. It's a meaningful, time-limited commitment that puts you at the center of one of AHLA's most valued traditions. Panels are intentionally composed to reflect the full range of our membership — varied practice settings, areas of focus, and lived experience.
Note: Panelists must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and may not serve on a panel for an award where they have submitted a nomination.
Current Opportunities — Review Windows by Award:
• Patricia T. Meador Leadership Award (reviewed in August) Honors an AHLA member volunteer who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to education and mentoring within the Fraud and Abuse Practice Group and championed innovative approaches to fraud and compliance education.
• Michael F. Anthony Health Law Scholarship (reviewed in September) Supports student access to AHLA's Fundamentals of Health Law conference through registration, travel, and lodging assistance for deserving recipients.
• Excellence in Adjunct Teaching Award (reviewed in December) Recognizes an adjunct professor from a JD, LLM, or health law/health policy program who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to their students.
• IDEA Champion Award (reviewed in December) Honors an individual who has shown leadership and commitment to advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility within AHLA and the broader health law profession.
• Student Writing Competition (reviewed in March) Recognizes a student for an outstanding paper on a health law, health policy, or health compliance topic.
