AHLA is seeking applications for the Fellows Program. Established in 2004, the AHLA Fellows Program honors distinguished members who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and made significant contributions to both the health law profession and the Association. This prestigious designation celebrates those who represent the pinnacle of excellence in our community.
Eligibility Requirements
Fellows represent AHLA's most accomplished and respected members who have established themselves as leaders through their exceptional health law practice, advanced expertise, and dedicated service to the Association. Selection to this distinguished group is determined annually by the AHLA Board of Directors, reflecting the highest recognition of professional achievement and commitment to advancing health law.
Nomination Criteria
· 15+ years of continuous AHLA membership
· 15+ years of distinguished practice in health law or a health-related profession
· Recognition as an exemplary health law professional within their community
· Demonstrated history of outstanding service to AHLA through governance, mentorship, leadership, conference planning, speaking, writing, and other contributions
Nomination Process
The Fellows Program offers two pathways to consideration: peer nomination or self-nomination. Any AHLA member may recommend a deserving colleague by contacting the Vice President of Membership, who will then forward the application materials to the nominee for completion. Alternatively, members who meet the eligibility criteria may self-nominate by requesting and completing the same application.
Nominations are accepted year-round. The Review Period occurs in January each year, which allows the Judging Panel the opportunity to evaluate submissions, using a scoring rubric based on the established Award criteria. Nominations submitted during the Review Period will automatically be considered for the following year's award cycle. This structured review process ensures consistent and fair assessment of each candidate's contributions to both AHLA and the health law profession. The new Fellows class is honored at the Association’s Annual Meeting in June.
